FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colorful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settlement process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside of Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

It is the most beautiful city in Africa, clean with gorgeous beaches, beautiful sunsets and fantastic restaurants. Table mountain is breathtakingly majestic as it rises above the city's skyline and seemingly engulfs it in its wide embrace creating a oneness between city living and nature. Cape town, for me, ranks in the top 10 places in the world everyone must visit.

The waterfront area, excellent for tourism and shopping, so many trips from bus to boat and helicopter rides. All the popular eateries and the best restaurants are here too. Easy parking and very cheap to use. Red hop on hop off bus tours to various outlaying districts and places is a must. The room was NOT the room advertised as the pictures were different, VERY small, felt like a jail cell, so small that the toilet had no toilet holder or toilet brush. Only one small soap was supplied, towel hooks were loose, bathroom was so small couldn't move around. DON'T book, Kings hotel, Radisson Blue, Signature Hotel, Sugar Hotel, and a lot of other hotels are far better. We live in Franschhoek and we frequently book hotels in Cape Town, this was our worst experience in 13 years. STAY AWAY, NOT WORTH THE MONEY, BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Lola. Its set in a perfect location close to the V & A Waterfront. Russell and Alan are such amazing hosts, they made us feel like family. Nothing was too much for them and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel itself is stunning with so many personal touches, it's refreshing to stay in a place that is not clinical like the big hotel chains. This is truly a gem and I will definitely book at Lola again

The location was very convenient - right in the heart of City Bowl and walking distance to the waterfront. The hotel is really cute and funky. The rooms were clean and comfortable and functional but pretty sparse. This is not luxury hotel! However, the very cool rooftop bar/patio made up for it. It has a great vibe. The restaurant downstairs was really good and the staff were helpful and friendly. I would stay there again for sure. It's a little gem.
