The room was large, comfortable, and a clothes washer was available in the room! The key was in the room door lock when we arrived, but we didn't know that, so we waited until the property owner showed up on schedule!

My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag.
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the self-check-in process was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and the spaciousness of my room. The facilities, including the WiFi and kitchen, were top-notch, and I had no complaints on that front. However, there were a few quirks that left me feeling a bit unsure. The surrounding farm was somewhat peculiar, but I must admit that I'm not exactly an expert on farming, and I didn't book this place for its agricultural charm. The absence of any human interaction with the host was a tad disconcerting. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and a friendly welcome or some local insights would have been appreciated. One noteworthy detail was the water quality, which had a distinct sulfur smell. While this might be normal for the area, it would have been helpful if the host had mentioned it beforehand. In summary, the guesthouse had fantastic facilities, but the lack of host interaction and the peculiar farm surroundings left me with mixed feelings. Plus, a heads-up about the unique water scent would have been a considerate touch. However, all in all, good to very good value for the money.Thomas - 8.0Scored 8.0

This small town is a good base for exploring the area, including horse riding at Icelandic Horse Tours in Helluland and a trip to Drangey Island with Drangey Tours. There is a nice exhibit on the Icelandic Civil War (ca 1230) and Iceland's oldest bakery. A short walk up to the cemetery provides a nice view.

Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, free wi-fi. Hot spring behind a house! Average breakfast. I DO WARN YOU: Rooms a quite small, it is obviously expected that people lived in 1800s had different expectations and comforts, house is fully wooden and floors are very loud and noisy (hotel offer ear plugs for that) and other people could hear you with ease through walls (burp/fart/sneeze and everything else).

They've just finished refurbishing the common area and it looks like some 5 star hotels! The entrance was not entirely finished, but they were putting a lot of work and effort into it. We were the only guests the night we stayed, and it was great! We were allowed to use the hot tub too, which is outside, and provides an overview of the amazing valley the guesthouse is in. It is a farm too, and you can see horses and some other animals!

The keystone in the fireplace downstairs in the dining area says it was built in 1820 & the owners have exerted a huge effort to provide modern comfort (plumbing, electricity, wifi) and safety (sprinklers, smoke detectors). There was heaps of space for our bags and cold weather gear. (We had a lot) Breakfast was very good, in a basement dining room that was decorated with heaps of memorabillia. There was a private natural hot spring in the grounds that was nice and hot. Staff were lovely and did our washing for us.
