I spent a very enjoyable three night stay here as a solo traveller. It is a quiet, secluded location. There is kayaking, fishing from the dock when the water is up, or from kayak. There are a few short hiking trails and a pool. The kitchen staff cleaned and cooked the fish i caught for dinner. Gilberto was a very welcoming and helpful host. A nice place to enjoy nature and Lake Gatun and relax.

Everything was great! The place is build with guest's comfort above all in mind.
I've been a camper since I was 15 and I camped in over a dozen countries. This was the first time ever that I saw a 5-star hotel bathroom "in the jungle."

We rented mountain bikes from Gamboa Bikes for the days we were in Gamboa. This gave us the flexibility to bike both the Pipeline and Plantation Roads, both of which were wonderful for both hiking and biking (although the Pipeline Rd was a bit bumpier).

Enjoyed staying there for three days .
Enjoyed staying there for three days . Took most of the tours offered . The river tour was the best . Don’t expect to see a lot of wildlife as advertised .
The resort itself is an old one and very tired looking . They need to do a major facelift . The food is acceptable . Room was also very tired looking . Pool area is great . When booking tours , the staff didn’t seem to be competent . They didn’t charge us when we booked the lift tour and we almost didn’t make it !

It´s a great place to travel with kids.
It´s a great place to travel with kids. The excursions give you the opportunity to get in touch with the Panamanian nature. I recommend the boat excursion, You can sail near big boats entering the Canal. They also take to specific spost where you can see monkeys and other animals.

We loved our stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort.
We loved our stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort.
So much to do near the resort. The. Cultural and Nature excursions were first rate. The Panama Canal is fascinating to learn about. The facilities are gorgeous and although they are a bit vintage and show wear one sees the bones of this beautiful property cannot Be denied. There was a beautiful wedding while we were there and we went to nature sanctuaries hiked jungle trails and saw all kinds of animals Monkeys and birds. One of The best parts of our 2 week stay in Panama!
Wish there were more food options however.

Gamboa itself is a small village.
Gamboa itself is a small village. There is only a restaurant or two outside of the hotel, and one small grocery story for common items.
The visit is really based on the Gamboa Rainforest Resort (lots of tours) and the Pipeload road and Discovery center for birding.
My niece works at the Smithsonian Institution and my sister & I decided to stay at this resort to be close to her. Our room had incredible views. The hammock was relaxing and an added bonus. The room was always clean. All of the facilities had beautiful views. I did two tours the boat tour and walking tour. Both were amazing and very reasonably priced. The pool is spectacular and a cool outdoor bar you can swim up to.
I would highly recommend this resort
Breakfast was excellent; coffee aside. As were the buffet meals in general. The hotel itself is an opulent old relic. Still quite a place. Wonderful pool when the staff weren't allowing guests to pump out music at ridiculously loud levels. Tree trek/zip line was great fun. Breakfast staff was fantastic as was Victor on the front desk. Comfy room, amazing river view. The brass monkey foot rest at the monkey bar, just one if many fantastic details.
The amenities that are included in hotel rooms are designed to make guests' stays as pleasurable as possible. These amenities include bathrooms that are spotless and gleaming, as well as large, comfy mattresses that are set up with unique bedspreads on their own. The gardens are exceptionally beautiful and well-kept. The beds are really comfy, and the complimentary breakfasts are hearty and abundant. It is my strong suggestion that you do so.
This place is literally out of this world! it’s extremely beautiful, the lobby, the breakfast buffet, the view - absolutely stunning. We also used the free safari tour which was super fun. there are animals and creatures all over the place.
Shoutouts to Juan from the reception who was extremely friendly - as was the entire staff at the hotel.
We’d definitely come back to this place & even stayed longer if our budget wasn’t limited :)
Beautiful, safe neighborhood with a native garden tucked up near the rainforest. The studio was perfectly clean with all visitors need in the bathroom and kitchen. The owner was out and f the country but was readily in contact by messages. There was a break in the water line to Gamboa but we were both immediately notified and our water needs were met completely. The birding was awesome. We’ll be back in a heartbeat.
Charming 1930s house in local neighborhood of very small town of Gamboa. Great location amidst the rainforest - we saw all kinds of birds and animals. The house is lovely, has high ceilings, fans, mosquito netting on the windows and is very comfortable. Gamboa is a lovely small rural place to stay and Jorge was a wonderful host.
Amazing location. Grounds well maintained. Beautiful views from balcony. Friendly staff. Well organized tours with knowledgeable tour guides. Lovely walks into rainforest from the property. Plenty of birds and critters to spot. Food was varied and high quality. Restaurant also boasts a lovely view.
The staff are the great asset of the hotel. They are all very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The room was clean and it was great to have a balcony overlooking the Chagres River.
the only thing I enjoyed about the property was the location in the rainforest and the sloths. lots of capybaras on the property at night and Mexican raccoons. other then that the whole stay was a complete disaster.
This was a pleasant surprise! I wish ALL my bookings could be like this. Clean, organized, great location (given it was in Gamboa, basically in the middle of nowhere), great condition with everything you needed.
Professional staff in all areas- reception, tours, wait staff, housekeeping. A-Plus
Beautiful setting with wildlife to view
Room was comfortable and cleaned daily
Nice pool area
Three tours offered were great.
Beautiful setting among the rainforest on the banks of the river. The scenery is the highlight. Tours are good especially the boat one. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, clean. Breakfast is good.
Location was unreal. Its lucky its in such a beautiful place as everything else about the hotel was awful. Hikes on site and birdlife amazing. Breakfast was also surprisingly really good.
